78 word flashcards covering all sounds from Phase 3 in Letters and Sounds. Cut out and laminate the sounds and you have a great, durable set of words to compliment the teaching of phonics. These word flashcards can be used for so many things. They can be used in the teaching of phonics but can also be given to pupils to work independently on many different activities. There are 3 words for each sound and the sound is highlighted in green. The words are differentiated, each sound has three levels of difficulty . Also a super resource to aid phonic interventions. One key element in the teaching of phonics is to revisit previous sounds taught - using these flashcards is a great way to do just that! Fantastic and fun 28 slide/12 question quiz. The quiz is multiple choice and covers a range of topics including: politics, sport and celebrities. Children answer 12 questions, choosing a, b or c. They then swap papers with a partner and then the answers are relived on the Powerpoint, There is also a Roman Numeral tie breaker! Great for Christmas fun and assemblies. Terrorism needs to be addressed from an early age so pupils understand why it is wrong and how it can ruin lives. This is a gentle introduction into thinking about the evil of terror. An interesting and engaging poem on the fear and devastation caused by persecution. The 1,2,1,2 rhyming poem gives pupils an insight to the hurt and lonlinessthat a refugee might feell. The poem comes with writing paper for pupils to write their own poem about a refugee and poetry comprehension questions.

I already have two free mock phonics screening tests in my free resources. If you have already used those, here is an option for a brand new (2016) edition. The test is laid out as the STA lay theirs out. There are 40 words: 20 real and 20 pseudo. There is also a tick sheet to record pupils’ answers and a class record sheet. I would advise carrying out several mock screening checks so that the children are comfortable with the format. Also, this allows you to find individual or common areas for development and plan your phonics sessions accordingly. As a school, we have had extremely good phonics screening results, 80-90%. This resource could also be printed off as a booklet and given as homework to encourage families to support their children in working towards passing the phonics screening.
